sorry for continuing the tangent, but...

there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to a comic con having never read comics before. this sort of attitude is very harmful to the community, and it's just the sort of thing that alienates potential new readers.

It was mentioned in the article above I believe. Peripheral comment I guess. Let's not sidetrack the thread on this though.

No, I hadn't heard... It doesn't sound like something resource-related, though, so maybe if you want to discuss it you could start up a new thread? Maybe with a link to the story...

I came across this on tumblr - University of California study on how people read different comic book page layouts

I'm linking to their tumblr post which links the article because it has a neat visual that (for some reason) isn't included in the article itself. It's interesting though!

I am not totally sure where to put this, but I came upon it today and I'm pretty sure other people might be interested in this, so I will put it here:

Chris Schweizer's Guide to Spotting Tangents

(I personally am very guilty of creating bump-up tangents :X Especially with speech bubbles butting up against anything and everything else, blurgh)

More nifty links. Remind me to add them to the list and I will, tomorrow XD.

Survival guide to Freelancing. Pretty straightforward stuff, but it looked like something I would have liked to have read when I started out :P.

A neat tool for the painters among us who find it hard to find reference for portraits with complicated lighting situations. It has it's limitations but I thought it was pretty neat :D
